Cancer Coaching

I work with cancer clients, survivors, thrivers and caregivers of all ages, all cancer stages and all walks of life. Wherever you are on your journey, I would love to meet you and work with you to discover your inner strength as you navigate one of life’s most confronting, overwhelming and potentially-rewarding turning points.

Passion & expertise to empower you in emotional, mental, and spiritual healing

My Services

I offer one-time, short-term, and long-term counseling services. By talking to a professional, you can gain a trusted and objective perspective on your situation. This can allow you to maintain healthy relationships while also getting the support you need. I am here to help you in any way that I can.

“The best initial advice I received after my cancer diagnosis was from my doctor. She told me that I could still eat chocolate and have a glass of wine, and that I did not do this to myself. This was a relief to hear, as I was feeling guilty and ashamed about my diagnosis.

Throughout my surgery and chemotherapy, I found the most healing and comfort through those who had walked similar paths to me. I found support groups and online forums where I could connect with other cancer survivors. These people understood what I was going through, and they were able to offer me advice and support.

I am grateful for the advice I received from my doctor, and I am grateful for the support of the cancer community. These people helped me to get through a very difficult time in my life.”

What the heck is a Cancer Coach, and why Brooke Taylor?

Cancer is one of life’s most terrifying events. It changes everything. Cancer Coaches work with cancer clients, survivors and caregivers of all ages, all cancer stages and all walks of life.  Whether you are recently diagnosed, receiving treatment, in survivorship or caring for a loved one with cancer, a Cancer Coach will meet you and walk with you to discover your inner strengths and wisdom. My goal is to help clients move from panic to powerful so they find meaning from their cancer diagnosis.

Clients

Whether your diagnosis is recent or you’ve been living with cancer, I have walked in your shoes.  I know the fear—the ups and downs of your physical well-being, your energy and your hope.  Cancer clients can feel overwhelmed with treatment options, information and opinions, as well as frustrated and disappointed about their progress.  A Cancer Coach can help you stay connected and grounded through your journey. You are not your disease.

Survivors

“Survivorship is the hardest part” says, Patricia Ganz, Director of Cancer Prevention and Control Research at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Once cancer treatment is completed, the new and unexpectedly difficult journey as a Survivor begins. Instead of feeling enthused and ready to re-engage with life, as you would expect, you may find yourself feeling lost and discouraged because you don’t feel more relieved, more energetic, more…happy.  You may be undergoing preventative chemotherapy and other protocols. I know these feelings intimately and know that Survivors are at a critical point.

I understand what it’s like to be given a treatment plan finish active treatment and, instead of feeling joyous and free, feeling stunned and disoriented as if you’ve just been fired from a job. A cancer coach can help you  navigate this new journey successfully while making sure you don’t take it alone.

Caregivers

Whether your loved one is still in or completed treatment, is still with us or has passed, you as their caregiver are on your own cancer journey. You are the unsung hero and you travel every stage and phase with your beloved.

However, in your role as a caregiver, you made it your job to be there for them and, at some point, you will find yourself asking, “What about me? Who am I, now? People tell me to take care of myself, but how do I do that? What does that mean?”

I have been a caretaker for my Mom and Dad who both had cancer. I was with them for doctor visits, surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, anxiety attacks, hospice, long term insurance, and their final goodbyes all while working or raising small children. I have been in your shoes.
